WHAT THE EFF. I went to the BB&B site, and they have the two-jar set with the Home for the Holidays OLD label! MADNESS. http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=17586904

This is so funny! I am exactly the same way about burning my expensive candles, and I have 3 crazy cats, so I am always anxious about leaving a lit candle unattended. I’m surprised you guys aren’t checking out tarts. It’s a great way to get that YankCan scent and you never need to worry about wax pools or open flames. I’m right there with you that most of the tart warmers YC sells are pretty ostentatious, but you can get a very simple, basic warmer and then stock up on the tarts when they are on sale for $1 (and use a coupon- there are always coupons for YC online!). You can make your own little blends by melting different tart pieces together, and generally, the tarts have really strong throw. Jonathan uses tarts, right? Maybe he’ll back me up on this. Tarts are so much easier than the Housewarmer jars. I really love them.

I went by the YC store yesterday and for the first time, I really wanted to buy a certain candle not for the scent- but because it is by far the most gorgeous label I have seen to date. It was on the retired wall, and it was a soft gray candle called “Icicles” and the picture shows a cardinal on a branch laced with ice. I wanted to buy it just so I could set it on my desk and look at it all winter! The scent was nice enough, a bit masculine (which i love) but very subtle. I didn’t get it, but I’m still thinking about it today….

Also, inspired by Maryann’s cunning, I just went straight out and did the same thing at BB&B (2 blocks from my house), coupon and all, except substituting with Mistletoe. I even thought to remove the alarm-sticker thing off the jar before placing it in the box. Nevertheless, the alarm still went off when I exited after checkout! The manager, who had assisted my newbie cashier through an arduous checkout, came over and reached straight for the yankee candle box. What!–are we part of such a criminal trend that she knew the usual suspect!?! I was totally prepared to be busted. She pulled it out of my bag, apologized, scanned it with the disarming thing, and sent me on my way. What strange feelings of guilt and triumph! Thanks Maryann!!

Holly, WHAT? I would have PEED myself if the alarm had gone off! You are so brave!

Linda: you speak wisdom about tarts, I just NEED the big housewarmers, even though I suffer for it. Gotta have that big flame and big jar. But mix/mathcing tarts for quick scnet is pretty genius. And man the icicle candle sounds awesome. Did it perhaps not smell awesome?

Holly: I’m voting for you for president. You astound me. You’re my new world leader.
