I have a few YA recommendations, and if you ever get around to them, I would love to read your thoughts. The <i>Abarat</i> series by Clive Barker, <i>The Ropemaker</i> and its sequel <i>Angel Isle</i> by Peter Dickinson, and <i>Tender Morsels</i> yb Margo Lanagan.
